Olive Crest in Nevada’s Drop to Stop Child Abuse Event at Caesars Palace Raises Crucial Funds for Local Child Abuse Education and Prevention Programs
LAS VEGAS – Extreme sports enthusiasts, corporate leaders and philanthropic-minded individuals, as well as the general public, joined together Saturday, Nov. 4 to raise crucial funds for local child abuse prevention programs by rappelling 350 feet from the 46th floor of the Augustus Tower at the iconic Caesars Palace, for Olive Crest in Nevada’s Drop to Stop Child Abuse event. Over 50 individuals rappelled down to a cheering crowd of supporters. The event also featured gourmet coffee from Grouchy John’s, lunch from Raising Cane’s and Pizza Hut, and beverages to toast their successful descent.
National and local celebrities rappelled for the event’s Media Preview Day on Friday, Nov. 3. Celebrity rappellers included Las Vegas 51s mascot, Cosmo; Bristol Marunde, star of HGTV’s “Flip or Flop Vegas;” “America’s Got Talent” Season 11 finalist and international mime sensation Tape Face at Flamingo Las Vegas; JJ Snyder, host of “The Morning Blend” on KTNV Channel 13 Action News; Brittney and Sparks, hosts of KOMP 92.3 “B.S. in the Morning;” Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Johnny Kats, and Headliner Jeff Civillico at Paris Las Vegas.
Over $65,000 was raised for Olive Crest, a nonprofit that works tirelessly to meet the individual needs of children in crisis by providing safe homes, counseling and education for both youth and parents. These funds will ensure more children are safe from abuse, and that critical preventive services are available to intervene to stabilize and preserve at-risk families.
“We’re so grateful to our sponsors, rappellers and volunteers for their participation in Drop to Stop Child Abuse,” said Myesha Wilson, executive director for Olive Crest in Nevada. “Thanks to their support, we’re able to provide assistance to more families in our community.”
